How to Cancel Audible

Cancel online

Before you cancel Audible, check your unused credits. Canceling forfeits them. If price is the issue, a pause or plan downgrade may be available. Audiobooks you already purchased stay in your library permanently.

Cancel online

Go to audible.com, sign in, open Account Details, and select Cancel membership under the membership plan section. Audible may offer a pause, a plan change, or a discounted rate before confirming. Review those options before completing cancellation. The cancel flow is only available on the desktop website. You cannot cancel through the Audible app on iPhone, Android, or Alexa.

Read this before you cancel

Audible is billed through your Amazon account. There is no separate Audible billing system. Canceling Audible does not cancel Amazon Prime or any other Amazon subscription. They are independent memberships that share a login. If you signed up for Audible through an Apple device, your billing may run through Apple instead. In that case, cancel through Settings, then your name, then Subscriptions on your Apple device.

After you cancel

Audiobooks you purchased with credits or money are yours permanently. They stay in your library after canceling. Unused credits are forfeited when the membership ends. Any titles from the Plus catalog (included titles you did not buy with a credit) become unavailable. Your account stays on file and you can rejoin later without losing purchased titles.

What to save as proof

If billing continues, these make the dispute faster.

  2. 2Screenshot of your remaining credit balance before canceling
  3. 3Confirmation email from Audible or Amazon with the final membership date
  4. 4If billed through Apple, screenshot of Apple subscription settings showing the cancellation

What goes wrong

  • Canceled without using remaining credits. Unused credits are forfeited at cancellation and cannot be recovered.
  • Canceled too quickly without seeing the pause or plan downgrade offers that Audible presents during the cancel flow
  • Thought canceling Audible would affect the Amazon Prime membership. They are separate subscriptions under the same Amazon login.
  • Tried to cancel through the Audible app. The cancel option is only available on the desktop website at audible.com.
  • Lost access to Plus catalog titles after canceling and assumed purchased audiobooks were also gone. Purchased titles stay permanently.
