How to Cancel Amazon Prime
Amazon Prime is one membership that controls shipping, video, music, photos, and more. Canceling it ends all of those benefits. If you only want to stop one piece, like a Prime Video channel, that is a separate cancellation.
Cancel online
Go to amazon.com/prime, select Manage Membership, and choose End Membership. Amazon shows what you will lose and offers to downgrade or pause before confirming. You can choose to end benefits immediately or let them run until the current billing period ends.
Read this before you cancel
Prime is almost always billed through Amazon directly. The main confusion is not about who bills you, but about what you are actually canceling. Prime Video is not a separate subscription. It is part of Prime. Canceling Prime ends video access along with shipping, music, photos, and everything else in the membership. Prime Video Channels like Max, Paramount Plus, or AMC Plus are separate add-on subscriptions billed through Amazon. Canceling Prime does not cancel those channels. They continue billing until you remove them individually from Your Memberships and Subscriptions.
After you cancel
If you choose to let benefits run until the end of the billing period, everything stays active until that date. If you end immediately, Amazon may issue a partial refund depending on how much of the period you used. After access ends, free shipping reverts to standard, Prime Video becomes unavailable, Amazon Music Prime stops, and photo storage limits change. Add-on channels you subscribed to through Prime continue billing separately.

What goes wrong
- Canceled Prime expecting only video to stop, but lost free shipping, music, photos, and all other benefits at the same time
- Canceled Prime but a Prime Video Channel like Max or Paramount Plus continued billing because channels are separate add-on subscriptions
- Canceled on the wrong Amazon account. If you have more than one Amazon login, Prime may be active on a different one.
- Chose to end immediately and did not receive the expected partial refund because of account usage during the billing period
- Thought canceling a Prime Video Channel was the same as canceling Prime. Channels and the membership are managed in different places.
