Canceled a Membership But Benefits Still Work

You canceled, but access or perks still appear active. Here is how to tell whether that is normal or a sign something is still billing.

What to check

  • Access usually continues until the end of the billing period. Most subscriptions and memberships let you keep using benefits until the date you already paid through. This is normal. Check your cancellation confirmation for the end date and compare it to today.

  • A family member or household setup may still have access. If you were on a family plan, household share, or multi-user account, other members may still see benefits even after you canceled. On services like Amazon Prime, Spotify Family, or Apple Music, the plan manager's cancellation may not take effect for other members until the billing period ends.

  • A bundled perk may be running under its own subscription. Services like Paramount Plus through Walmart Plus or Prime Video Channels through Amazon can create separate accounts or billing relationships. If the perk still works after the membership ended, check whether the perk has its own active subscription.

  • Your app or device may be showing a cached login. Some apps and devices do not update access status immediately after cancellation. Try signing out and signing back in, or check the subscription status on the service's website rather than inside the app.

  • You may be checking the wrong account. If you have more than one login for the service, the canceled account may be different from the one currently signed in. Compare the email address on your cancellation confirmation to the account showing active benefits.

  • If benefits are still active and a new charge has posted, the cancellation may not have gone through. Check your bank or credit card statement. If a charge appeared after your cancellation date, the problem has moved from access confusion to a billing issue. See the guide on being charged after canceling for next steps.
