How to Cancel Netflix
If you pay Netflix directly, canceling takes a minute. If billing runs through Apple, Google, or a TV provider, you cancel through them.
Cancel online
Go to Account on netflix.com and select Cancel Membership. Netflix shows your last day of access before you confirm.
Read this before you cancel
Not everyone pays Netflix directly. If you signed up through Apple, Google Play, or a TV provider, billing runs through that company and canceling on netflix.com will not stop it. Check your bank or credit card statement to see who charges you. If the charge does not say Netflix, cancel through whatever company name appears.
After you cancel
You keep watching until the end of your current billing period. Your profile, history, and My List stay saved for about ten months. Extra Member add-ons end at the same time.
What to save as proof
If billing continues, these make the dispute faster.
- 1Screenshot of the Account page showing your end date
- 2Cancellation email from Netflix with your last day of service
- 3If billed by Apple, Google, or a provider, screenshot that subscription page too
What goes wrong
- Third party billing: canceled on netflix.com, but Apple, Google, or a TV provider still controlled the charge
- Profile removal: deleted a profile and assumed it canceled the subscription. It does not.
- Extra Member charge: that add-on bills separately and needs its own cancellation
- Carrier promotion: the carrier manages the subscription outside of Netflix settings
