Canceled a Game Subscription But Still Have Access

• Canceling a gaming subscription usually stops the next renewal, not your current access. Most services let you keep playing until the date you already paid through. This is the most common reason access still works after canceling. Check your account for the expiration or renewal date.

• Different benefits end at different times. Online multiplayer, the game catalog, cloud saves, and monthly claimed games may not all stop on the same day or behave the same way. On Xbox, Game Pass catalog games stop launching after access ends but purchased games are not affected. On PlayStation, claimed monthly games lock when the subscription expires. On Nintendo Switch, cloud saves stop syncing but are kept temporarily.

• Verify that auto-renewal or recurring billing is actually off. On Xbox, check account.microsoft.com under Services and subscriptions. On PlayStation, check Subscription Management in account settings. On Nintendo, check your Nintendo Account at accounts.nintendo.com. If renewal is still active, the cancellation may not have completed.

• If a new charge posted after you canceled, the cancellation may not have taken effect before the billing date. Compare the charge date to the date you turned off renewal. If the charge came first, the cancellation only applies to the next cycle. If the charge came after, you may need to contact support.

• Having access does not mean the cancellation failed. This is the most common misunderstanding. If renewal is confirmed off and the expiration date is in the future, everything is working correctly. The access will end on that date without further action.

• Save proof now while you still have access. Screenshot your subscription status page showing that renewal is off and the expiration date. If a dispute comes up later, this proof is easier to capture while the account is still active than after access ends.
