How to Cancel Instacart Plus

Cancel online

Instacart Plus is canceled through your account settings, but the cancel option is not always easy to find in the app. Annual plans have a narrow refund window after renewal. If you miss it, the membership runs for the full year with no partial refund.

Cancel online

Open the Instacart app, tap Account, then Instacart Plus, then Manage Membership. Look for the Cancel option. You can also cancel at instacart.com under Account Settings, then Instacart Plus Membership. The cancel path in the app can be buried under multiple taps. If you do not see it, try the website instead.

Read this before you cancel

Instacart Plus is billed through Instacart directly. There is no Apple, Google, or third party billing path. The confusion is not about who charges you but about finding the cancel option and understanding the refund rules. Monthly plans cancel cleanly at the next billing date. Annual plans renew for the full year upfront, and the refund window after renewal is short. If you miss the window, the membership stays active until the year ends with no partial refund available.

After you cancel

On a monthly plan, benefits continue until the next billing date. After that, delivery fees return to standard rates and the free delivery threshold goes away. On an annual plan, benefits continue until the annual expiration date regardless of when you cancel. Your Instacart account, order history, saved lists, and payment methods are not affected.

What to save as proof

If billing continues, these make the dispute faster.

  1. 1Screenshot of the membership management page showing canceled status and the expiration date
  2. 2Confirmation email from Instacart with the cancellation date
  3. 3If on an annual plan, screenshot showing the annual renewal date and any refund eligibility window
  4. 4Screenshot of your bank or credit card statement showing the most recent Instacart Plus charge

What goes wrong

  • Could not find the cancel option in the Instacart app because it is nested several screens deep under account settings. The website path is usually more straightforward.
  • Annual plan renewed and the refund window passed before the user noticed. Instacart does not offer partial refunds once the window closes.
  • Free trial converted to a paid annual plan because it was not canceled before the trial ended. The conversion happens automatically and the full annual charge posts at once.
  • Canceled Instacart Plus but still saw delivery fees on the next order because the cancellation had not taken effect yet. Benefits run until the end of the paid period, not the moment you cancel.
  • Confused the Instacart Plus membership with Instacart Express, which was the older name for the same membership. Canceling either one ends the same set of benefits.
