Alternatives to Paramount Plus

Paramount Plus has a smaller catalog than most major streaming services. Leaving it usually means deciding whether you need another service to replace it or whether you were paying for content you rarely watched.

Options worth considering

  • Buy or rent only the shows and movies you actually want

    If you subscribed for one or two specific shows, buying those seasons on Apple TV, Amazon, or Google Play may cost less than months of subscription. You own what you buy and can rewatch without a recurring charge. This only makes sense if your Paramount Plus usage was narrow.

  • Rotate streaming services one month at a time

    Instead of paying for Paramount Plus alongside other services, subscribe for one month when new content drops, watch what you want, then cancel and switch to a different service next month. Most streaming subscriptions have no contract. This works well if you are willing to plan around release schedules.

  • Consolidate to one broader streaming service

    If you had Paramount Plus alongside Netflix, Hulu, or Max, you may be able to drop it without a real gap. Larger services cover more genres and release more content. The tradeoff is losing access to Paramount-exclusive shows and live CBS content. Check whether the shows you watched are available elsewhere before canceling.

  • Use free ad-supported streaming for casual viewing

    Pluto TV (owned by Paramount) and Tubi offer free ad-supported content including some Paramount library titles. If your Paramount Plus usage was mostly background watching or browsing rather than following specific shows, free options may cover that habit without a subscription.

  • Keep Paramount Plus only if it comes free through another membership

    Paramount Plus is included with some Walmart Plus memberships and occasionally offered through carrier promotions. If you have access through another membership you already pay for, you may not need a standalone subscription at all. Check whether your Walmart Plus or carrier plan includes it before paying separately.
